After a personal tragedy, I always wanted to find a way to 'payback' the kindness my family receivced from my neighbours and my community of 'The County'.
Later as a 'Local' Vendor, I found that we need to keep our 'small town' Artists' businesses successful for the sake of our Art Community and its local Art economy overall. Art speaks to our history and culture. Art is also in the eye of the beholder so the more Art we have; the more product choice for everyone.
Today, I've observed more and more 'outside' influence setting their for-profit rates for rentals higher than alot of 'local' artists can afford. For example, it now costs more money for Vendor spots in the more popular locations as in downtown Picton.
The way to help our 'local' Artists and our micro-economy is to work together as a group. There is more power in numbers.
I believe that as a group, we can improve our competitiveness with increased organization. For example, we can:
-
share in reducing our 'Costs of Goods Sold' with bulk buying power such as shared purchases or sharing existing inventory.
-
network and share our ideas and knowledge to better strategize for the best Markets.
-
share costs and share resources such as creative advertising. For example, sharing poster -making ideas and graphic arts talent.
-
share inventory and inventory costs of tables, tents, or sandwich boards. for example.
-
share increased Public popularity with our even more creative products due to an exchange of ideas and learning from each other.
-
benefit our local micro-economy by fundraising more effectively and efficiently.
It's time to come together as a group in order to better compete.
Let's Get Together to Protect Our 'Local' before the opportunity disappears!
